I can see making an argument that there is no "correct" spelling for slang (though I'm not sure I'd agree), but what is the basis for arguing that a spelling one has seen or used is clearly right and a dictionary spelling is wrong? <br /><br />As for "keister," I'm not from NY, but I have seen that spelling many times, and I have never seen "keester." Maybe it's a regional variant, like some of the expressions I grew up with in Pittsburgh (where we used gumbands, not rubber bands, and scrubbed our teeth instead of brushing them).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6051744883907551402.post-33991466839667892232010-03-10T06:48:31.542-05:002010-03-10T06:48:31.542-05:00Do you pronounce "neither" as "nayt...Do you pronounce "neither" as "nayther"?John McIntyrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03559687583130468871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6051744883907551402.post-46141164151202456282010-03-09T23:31:29.585-05:002010-03-09T23:31:29.585-05:00I'm with Patricia the Terse about official spe...I'm with Patricia the Terse about official spellings of slang. <br /><br />"Keister" would be pronounced "kay-ster" as in "neigh" or "sleigh."
